About Hello Malta

Our Story

For years, the Maltese language has been declared "at risk" by self-made experts and the press. Yet, despite the talk, very little real action has been taken to make learning Maltese easier and more accessible.

When you want to learn Japanese, Portuguese, or almost any other language, many governments around the world provide free online resources and platforms. That's considered a common standard elsewhere. But here in Malta, we've been left behind—literally left in the dust.

Even major platforms like Duolingo refuse to teach Maltese, saying there aren't enough speakers. Instead, they focus on the “low-hanging fruit”—languages with larger markets. (Ironically, they even teach Klingon, but not Maltese!)

That's where Hello Malta comes in. We believe Maltese deserves the same opportunities as any other language—tools, resources, and platforms that make it easy, fun, and accessible for everyone to learn and keep our language alive.

Born from a passion for linguistic diversity and cultural preservation, Hello Malta was created by Swen "El Docker" Kalski to address the growing need for accessible Maltese language education. As one of the official languages of the European Union, Maltese deserves a modern, engaging learning platform.

We combine traditional language learning methodologies with cutting-edge AI technology to create an experience that's both effective and enjoyable. Every lesson is crafted to not just teach words and grammar, but to immerse learners in the vibrant culture of Malta.
